The Local Government Directory List (LGDL) is a list defining the generic structure of a UK local authority, also known as esd-toolkit's 'core tree'. Local Government Service List services are mapped to directory terms so that information on services may be presented in esd-toolkit (and elsewhere) in a structure that reflects an authority's own organisation. The structure may be modified to match a particular authority within esd-toolkit. The LGDL structure may be viewed as a possible local authority intranet 'drill-down' navigation hierarchy in the same way as LGNL provides a possible Internet navigation hierarchy.
XSD and RDFS schemas are subject to modification following definition of standards by the e-Government Unit Metadata Technical Working Group and the W3C taxonomy group. In the event of changes, we shall endeavour to support the formats given as legacy formats.
LGDL version 3.00 was released on 01 October 2006:

LGDL version 3.01 has a submissions deadline of 2 August 2010 and has a planned release date of 2 September 2010.
This XML file is the official version. The file is still considered to be a draft because there is extensive discussion in the local government community about that and LAWs is eager to accommodate a wide ranger of requirements. It is likely that the format of lgdl.xml will not be subject to much further revision. However component files from which lgdl.xml is constructed may be revised.
The XML file can also be viewed in these human readable formats:
