XML Files
The List is also presented in the same format as the original APLAWS XML file at www.esd.org.uk/standards/lgcl/1.02/acl.xml.
XML files formats are still considered to be drafts because there is extensive discussion in the local government community about that and LAWs is eager to accommodate a wide ranger of requirements. It is likely that the format of lgcl.xml will not be subject to much further revision. However component files from which lgcl.xml is constructed may be revised. LAWs and ESD Toolkit will also publish XML transformations (XSLT) to put the List into a variety of formats in response to local authority demand.
lgcl.xml is constructed from a number of component XML files which break the List down into: · A flat list of terms www.esd.org.uk/standards/termslist/1.02/termslist.xml · A hierarchical categorisation of terms for local government purposes www.esd.org.uk/standards/lgcl/1.02/lgclhierarchy.xml · Definition of which terms are preferred and which are lead-in for local government purposes www.esd.org.uk/standards/lgcl/1.02/lgclequivalents.xml
